The Engineering and Science Issues Test (ESIT): this instrument, patterned after the Defining Issues Test (second edition) and based on a neo-Kohlbergian framework, is designed to detect changes in moral judgment. It contains a collection of science and engineering ethics case studies.
The Test of Ethical Sensitivity in Science and Engineering (TESSE): this instrument is designed to detect awareness of ethical issues. It contains a collection of science and engineering ethics case studies.
We invite others to use ESIT and TESSE in their classrooms. This can help us to refine the instruments. There is no cost to use the instruments as long as researchers print their own surveys and perform their own data analysis. If printing, scanning and/or data analysis services are needed, a fee will be charged to cover our costs.
